This is your last chance to come on board as a sponsor of Lockyer Powerfest 2014. We are now in the final stages of our planning of our souvenir booklet, programs, media and radio advertising. If you know anyone or you yourself are interested in supporting your club’s event, then please let us now asap – either ring Craig Lewis on 0408 748 142 or email us at craig.lewis6@bigpond.com Sponsorship has a number of benefits, including corporate tickets, promotion of your business/organisation/team by our commentators over the weekend, advertising of your business logo on the big LED TV screen (at the venue) and additional print and social media promotion.
In addition, the club is offering a corporate facility on both days, which is professionally catered (food and alcohol) and will also include guided pit tours. Tickets can be purchased for as little as $70 per head and we can accommodate as many numbers as you would like. Please notify us if you have any intention of purchasing tickets in the corporate area. Payment will need to be received 1 week prior to the event, for catering purposes.
The next episode of Liquid Horsepower airs tomorrow, Friday 8 May 2014 and features the lastest round of the Blown Lites series at Paynesville. Check here for details. Here’s a sneak preview:
They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
Lest We Forget.
South Queensland Power Boat Club will be holding its next club race day at Yeronga on 4 May 2014. All classes will be catered for – call Mary McMillan on 0408-756631 or Grant Jones on 0408-278 792 for further information or to advise the club that you’ll be competing.

The Queensland State Council of the Australian Power Boat Association wishes all Queensland competitors the best of luck in this weekend’s round of the Formula Powerboat Grand Prix series at Lake Mulwala, Victoria. Whether it’s the Formula 1 class or the stars of the future in the junior classes (or anything in between), you can be sure the Queenslanders will put up a good fight!
If you’re in the area, call in and have a look at some great power boat racing over 12-13 April 2014. If you’ve never seen what these boats look like, here’s a preview:
A great day had by all. Numbers were a bit down but all those that attended had some great racing.
Results:
Juniors – 3rd Southern Fire Australia, 2nd Sonic Boom, 1st Major Blink
Outboards – 2nd Les Kirby, 1st David Ainley
Inboards – 3rd Hot ‘N’ Spicy, 2nd Voodoo, 1st Isurava.
Don’t forget that SQPBC is holding a club race day tomorrow 6 April 2014 at Yeronga! Racing starts at 10.00 am and all classes are catered for. Even if you aren’t racing, come along and support the club.
If you’re interested in getting involved in power boat racing, club race days are a good way to get to know people and ask questions – the days are low-key and there are plenty of people around happy to chat about racing.
